Emerging stars like Somdev Devvarman, Rohan Bopanna, Ramkumar Ramnanathan with aces Vijay Amritraj, Leander Paes, Sania Mirza have helped India gain its much deserved recognition on global Tennis platforms.

Tennis is steadily paving its way as one of the primary options for kids while selecting their sporting careers. The constantly rising inclination towards this beautiful sport has also managed to draw government’s attention as they have increased the budget allocation for Tennis’s progress by nearly 30%. But it’s not all that glittery as the Tennis authorities of India have been involved in ample of controversies throughout the recent years encompassing player selection affairs and acts of favouritism. The improvements in infrastructure like coaches, courts are also rather quite slow paced in comparison with the up surging desire and enthusiasm for this sport.

Going by a Facebook study, its revealed that after the US, India has most number of Tennis fans in the world and yet, ‘India’ and ‘Tennis’ are two words which seem quite indifferent while put together. So till the time our media gets done covering the glitz and glamour of “Paparazzi” Cricket, we would have to wait to witness an Indian holding a Single’s Grand Slam title.
